Where it began

Swisscan Properties Inc., previously known as Normbrau Inc., was established in Germany by Entrepreneur and Businessman Hermann Leckebusch more than 50 years ago. With his strong business acumen, he opportunistically built a highly profitable and reputable real estate development and construction firm, which now has offices across Germany, Switzerland, and Canada. In 1987, his son Timur Leckebusch led the group in Canada and opened the first Toronto office. Shortly after, Swisscan Properties was founded to oversee the North American operations of Normbrau Inc.

Under Timur’s leadership, Swisscan Properties successfully navigated the challenging real estate industry of the 1990s and emerged as a prominent player in development. Well-known corporations such as Goodlife Fitness, HSBC, SportChek, Subway, Blockbuster, ABB, ADP, and many others have entrusted Swisscan Properties as their landlord, while satisfied clients recognize them as their reliable developer and design builder.

Our History

Swisscan Properties Inc. /Normbau 2000 is a Swiss-based international construction and development company, founded in 1964 by Hermann Leckebusch.


With offices in Stuttgart, Berlin, Zug, and Toronto, Swisscan Properties Inc. has established itself all over Europe, and North America. The company specializes in the development of custom build warehouses, manufacturing plants, and shopping centres. Nearly 80 indoor Equestrian Sports arenas and Tennis complexes have also been built in the recreational sector.

Swisscan Properties Inc. specializes in the construction of custom build warehouses, manufacturing plants, and shopping centres.

We offer a wide range of services including site selection, preparing preliminary design concepts with cost analysis, schematic drawings, specifications, obtaining all permits, arranging financing, and construction.

In order to ensure client satisfaction, we encourage our clients to participate in all phases of design and cost analysis of projects to ensure the premises are built exactly to their needs and specifications for the lowest possible cost, including rental rates.

Once the project is completed, Swisscan Properties will upon request, offer complete Property Management Services. In addition, Swisscan Properties controls and offers for sale/lease a sizeable land bank with properties in Hamilton, Kitchener, and Clarington. Whatever your need, we can help you from concept to completion as well as maintenance and management of your newly developed property.

With offices; near Stuttgart, Germany; Celerina, Switzerland; Ashville, USA and Toronto, Canada. Swisscan Properties Inc. has established itself all over Europe, and in North America. The company specializes in the construction of custom build warehouses, manufacturing factories, offices and shopping plazas. 80 indoor Equestrian Sports and Tennis complexes have also been built in the recreational sector.
We design and build for our clients to suit their particular needs and conditions. Our services include site selection, preparing preliminary design concepts with cost analysis, working drawings, specifications, obtaining all permits, arranging financing, and the actual building construction.
Our clients participate in all the important phases of plan development and cost analysis to make sure the premises will be built exactly to their needs and specifications and operating at the best possible rates.
We are the lessor for companies like ABB, ADP, Goodlife Fitness, HSBC, Sportchek, Subway, and many more. Swisscan Properties holds property internationally as well as in Canada and the US. Our scope and experience enable us to handle our client’s commercial or industrial requirements to perfection, anywhere in North America or Europe.

About Timur.

 

      Timur Leckebusch, the founder and president of SwisScan Properties inc. is an entrepreneur from Germany. Growing up he was taught the ins and outs of the construction and development business from his father, Herman Leckebusch, who was a founding entrepreneur in the construction and development business. After taking a trip to Toronto, Canada in the early 80’s, he decided to extend his business into Canada. This was in the first few years following the second world war in 1986.

      Timur grew increasingly interested in his father’s business. While studying to be a lawyer at the University of Münich, his studies were abruptly halted after his father told him he was needed in Canada to run the office in Toronto. He followed his father’s call to take over the management of the Canadian operations.

      Upon arrival to Canada, Timur and his father founded Swisscan Properties Inc. as a property management company to manage Normbau’s Canadian asset portfolio. It was then in the early 90’s when Herman decided to retreat his Canadian investments due to economic pressures at the time. With his family calling him home. He saw opportunity in the Canadian real estate market and decided to set out for himself and had success exploring new business opportunities and deals on his own.

Now, nearly 35 years later. Timur has built strong relationships with clients which have proven to be long lasting partnerships.
